Square Foot & Assemblies Cost Estimating

Included with Seminar
A class workbook and two great books from RSMeans; Assemblies Cost Data and Square Foot Costs!

Objectives

This two-day course teaches attendees how to quickly deliver accurate square foot estimates using limited budget and design information.

Approach

Costs are normally configured on a unit price basis, by analyzing and “taking off” the specific costs for each project element. Square foot costing can be used to get the estimate done faster. Square foot estimates take advantage of a “systems” or “assemblies” format, using the basic idea that the many trades and small items involved in each portion of a building can be grouped together.

The Means “building assemblies/square foot cost approach” shows attendees how to create a very reliable preliminary and systems estimate using bare-bones design information — basic building use requirements, budget, building code, building type. Workshop sessions provide model square foot estimating problems and other skill-building exercises. Attendees are encouraged to learn from each other by bringing organization-specific problems and examples. The seminar instructor uses these to illustrate important points and achieve learning objectives. Courses can be custom-crafted to meet specific organizational goals.

Who should attend?

Facilities Managers, Facilities Engineers, Estimators, Planners, Developers, Construction Finance Professionals... and others needing to make quick, accurate construction cost estimates at commercial, government, educational and medical facilities.
